Anthony (Tony) was born in Los Angeles where he attended Manual Arts High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of California Los Angeles in 1968 and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of California Los Angeles in 1970. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1974 from the University of Southern California and was admitted to practice law in the State of California the same year.
Tony began his law practice with the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office and served there from 1975 to 1981, where he advanced to Central Superior Court Trials Division, felony trials.
Other assignments included Central Felony Preliminary Hearings, Central Misdemeanor Trials, Juvenile Division, Inglewood Municipal Court.
As a litigator for the Public Defender's Office, Tony tried in excess of 75 jury trials. Approximately 75% of the jury trials were in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Tony entered private practice in January 1981 with a general emphasis in criminal law, personal injury, tort litigation, sports and entertainment. Since then, he has tried hundreds of criminal cases. He is a member of several bar associations and has served on many bar committees, including Los Angeles County Bar Judicial Appointments, Indigent Criminal Defense Contracts, and Los Angeles County Bar Trustee.
Tony is past President of the Minority Bar Association and the John M. Langston Bar Association, having served two years in each capacity.
